2010 Update

We are now well into the planning for the 2010 show. The main themes for next years show will be the commemoration of the 90th Anniversary of the first RAF Air Pageant held on 3 July 1920 at RAF Henden. The 70th Annivesary of the Battle of Britain and the 20th Anniversay of the arrival of the E-3D Sentry AWACS aircraft at RAF Waddington. For the 90th we are hoping to attract representative types through the decades and an exciting static display of very early types. For the 70th BoB display we are hoping to simulate an airfield aerial attack by vintage German aircraft, followed by a dogfight including Spitfires and Hurricanes rounded off with the BoB Memorial Flight display. Our AWACS display is planned to include as many AWACS operators as we can attract into a vibrant ground display.

We do take a great deal of notice from our customers and we are well aware of the desire for more fast jet action within the flying display. As we have said in the past we can only invite other participants, we cannot compel anyone to attend. We have been very proactive since the 2009 show and have spoken to a number of nations trying to attract them to the 2010 show. It is very early in the preparations to expect confirmations but we have had an early success. The Czech Armed Forces will be represented at Waddington in 2010 with a JAS-39 Gripen both flying and static, an L-159 ALCA flying and static and static displays from an Mi-24 Hind helicopter and an Antonov AN-26 transport aircraft. We have also had wide interest from other countries who are yet to confirm.

Planning is moving on a pace and we are working extremely hard in trying to build dynamic and exciting flying and static displays along with all the other attractions needed to make a great family day out.

  2. Any chance of some RAF Tornadoes or some US fast air?
hoping to see more aircraft added very soon. it wasnt THAT bad last year

  3. great start guys and I hope it continues..

I would be very happy even if the Gripen, Tornado and Typhoon were displaying – the Vulcan would just top it off.

I for one appreciate that you have been listening to the feedback and look forward to attending both days as always!

  4. Great start. Don’t forget a French Air Force Hercules would look great in the static! Although i admit there does tend to be a good French presence at Waddo.

    Posted by Carl | January 14, 2010, 3:30 pm
    • WHY A FRENCH HERCULES WHEN A RAF ONE WILL BE IN THE STATIC PARK ANYWAY. THE AIRCRAFT I WANT TO SEE FROM FRANCE IS THE RAFALE OR ANY MIRAGES.

Posted by Michael Byrne | February 25, 2010, 9:59 am
      • I am not sure where you got the information regarding a French Hercules. We certainly have no knowledge of one. All the aircraft that we confirm will be on the website. Any rumours that may be flying around other forums are just that. Rumours. As yet we have not had any information from the French Air Force as to what they may be bringing to the show. As soon as we have any information it will appear on the website.

  5. It sounds like your making good progress & may it continue. Last years show for me flying wise was abit of a let down, but i understand things are tight at the moment (thank god for the red arrows).
I talked to alot of pilots from the usa & other nations & they said they would have been more than happy to display but were told they were’nt needed, if that is true why ?
All i can hope for is that this years show is the best ever !!!
    Good luck.

    Posted by Karl | January 21, 2010, 7:37 am
    • Hi Karl, I am a little surprised by your comments regarding pilots being told they were not needed. We try extremely hard to attract foreign Air Forces to the show each year. It must be emphasised that we cannot compel anyone to bring an aircraft to the show, we can only invite. Every year we write to embassies representing the nations we would like to invite here. We then follow up those letters with visits and presentations. A huge amount of ringing and emailing takes place and we follow up any whisper or rumour suggesting there may be a possibility of attracting a flyer. We NEVER turn anyone away.

When a nation sends aircraft it is either to perform a flying display or to be a static. We cannot turn a static aircraft into a flying display. The nation will only allow validated crews to carry out flying displays and we CANNOT insist that a static display pilot preforms a flying display. There are a miriad of rumours flying round the various Air Show blogs about what is and is not coming to Waddington or anywhere else. Many are figments of over active imaginations. Watch our website and I can assure you we only put on those aircraft that have expressed a wish to attend.

  6. I’m a big fan of waddington & have been coming to your air shows for the past 10 years but last years show was the worst i’ve ever been to flying wise (i’ve seen alot better at my local flying club!).
I just hope this year you listen to what people have said & then we could be back to the good old waddington days. I wish you all the success in the world with this 1.

  7. Dear RAF Waddington Air Show team,

I’m just grateful to you for running a show that, no matter what the airshow participation you can muster, is a credit to the RAF and makes us “civvies” appreciate all the more the wide range of work you do. While I do drive 140+ miles up the A1 early on a weekend morning to the show principally to photograph the aircraft and jot down serial numbers, I also enjoy strolling around the base looking at the role exhibitions including the Army/Marines displays. In this age of defence cuts I’m just glad that there is a show for 2010 and hopefully confirmed for 2011.

On the aircraft front I’m hoping with all the media talk of Nimrod R1 retirements that we will still see one at the show. If I have a (realistic) request outside of what you’ve publicly announced you’re trying to get it would be to ask the USAF via Mildenhall to try and have an RC135V Rivet Joint present or perhaps on a fly-by arrangement. They might want to park it away from the crowds but seeing as it’s the nominal equivalent to the Nimrod R1 and mooted to replace them shortly it would be nice to see one close up. Finally an (unrealistic) request would be for a Beriev A-50 or KJ2000 AWACS [ Il-76 airframe ] of the Russian, Indian or Chinese [KJ2000] Airforce – one can but suggest! At worst perhaps some unit in the RAF or Norwegian AF can provide an air to air photograph to display of an A-50 as a stand-in over the weekend.

    Best wishes

  8. If you are struggling for static stick several RAF Tornados/eurofighters or Harriers in. It seems these days both Waddo and Fairford seem to only get one or two of each whereas in the old days there used to be numerous ones. It looks far better having say five tonkas in the static rather than a load of tins(light private aircraft). I know we have less aircraft in the RAF these days but it would be good for the RAF to have more crews with their aircraft at shows chatting to the public and advertising the RAF. I must admit even if you don’t manage to get it as good as previous years(last years excluded!) i would still attend as its still a good show and theres not that many airshows these days.

    Posted by Carl | January 27, 2010, 9:39 am
  9. Last years show was so bad i cant bring myself to attend this year, i know times are hard but i find display teams so boring and only want to see fast military jets.
I took some friends along for their first time and we left well before the end, unfortunately missing the typhoon, which was the only aircraft worth watching for us all day.
Waddington used to be a great show and hopefully some day it will be again, good luck in trying to make it great once more.

  10. hi, i’m a great fan of waddo and i would like to say that although 2009′s display was good, it lacked a fast jet presence. well don on getting the czechs! also please get an RAF tonka on the flying display, WE MISS THEM! hope the international pressence grows in the flying display, it would be great to get some of our european neighbours fast jets to display (a german PHANTOM)!!!

    see you in July!

  11. i no i may be wishing but with the pic of the f111 on the airshow web page, does this mean 1 is coming over? as i soar 1 down under a couple of years back and its dump and burn was amazing.

    • We have approached the Australian Government and we are waiting for a reply. Be assured that should we get a positive reply this will be announced on the web site.

  12. GREAT TO SEE THE CZECHS BRINGING SOME SUPERB AIRCRAFT TO WADDINGTON (WELL DONE ON THAT). WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE AUSSIE F111 FLYING TOO. OTHER AIRCRAFT ON MY WISHLIST ARE THE B1B LANCER, NZLAF 757,ANY MIGS OR SUKHOIS TOO. PLEASE DONT GET THE SAUDI HAWKS (YAWN). THEY ARE JUST A POOR MANS RED ARROWS. I KNOW THAT SOUNDS MEAN BUT THE REDS WILL APPEAR ALONG WITH A SOLO RAF HAWK DISPLAY, REALLY, HOW MANY HAWKS DO WE NEED TO SEE. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK.

Posted by Michael Byrne | February 9, 2010, 6:40 pm
  13. What are the Australians likely to offer (if they do) something american i guess

    Have you appoached anyone else?

Its understandable right now that many nations dont have the resources to send multiple a/c to airshows accross the globe. The Americans didnt really have anything on show last year that any other fledging country had, which was very disappointing.
keep working hard guys and we’ll come flocking!

  14. One small point you have the units for the Merlin/Puma round the wrong way on the provisional list but it will be right on the checklist if they appear!

  15. Regarding the F-111

    The Airshow wrote

“We have approached the Australian Government and we are waiting for a reply. Be assured that should we get a positive reply this will be announced on the web site.”

Isn’t it misleading to give so prominent a place to the F-111 on the website when you don’t know if one is coming yet?

    Posted by Tony | February 14, 2010, 10:29 pm
  16. A mock attack by WWII german planes would be fantastic. I’m also very excited about the flying gripen. Also is it possible to confirm which variant of the Hind will be on display at this time?

I would like to see harriers flying and some early jets (50′s and 60′s era) would be sweet, especially if flying. A boulton Paul Defiant would also be good to see.

An extra wishlist if any are possible (Ideally flying)
    A-10 Warthogs
    B1-B Lancer
    Ka-50 Hokum/Black Shark

    Posted by Darren | February 16, 2010, 8:37 pm
  17. Hi Darren would be nice to see an A-10 but those days are long gone, flying that is, there are no A-10 pilots who are cleared to fly/display the A-10 in Europe best we can hope for is a static pair

    Posted by YOUTH | February 18, 2010, 6:47 pm
  18. why cant we have what Milldenhall had a few years ago which i thought was pretty awesome it was 2P51 Mustangs in formation with 2 Eagles surely with Mildenhall finished the Americans would jump at the chance to show off their arsenal old and new

Posted by david feek | February 18, 2010, 7:21 pm
    • Dear David

As we have mentioned in previous replies to suggestions of particular aircraft we can only invite operators to come to the air show. We have no authority to demand that they attend. We always approach our American allies asking for both static and flying displays and we do get responses to the static line. It is worth noting that thyere are no US flying display crews in Europe, all their display pilots are stationed in the US and have to fly over for any event. This has curtailed all their flying displays throughout Europe. We are constantly looking for new and varied flying displays and we have a number of contacts that we hope will confirm closer to the Air Show. It is not unusual for all foreign forces to delay their decisions on where they will appear until March/April. Keep an eye on the website and as soon as we have confirmations they will be promulgated.

A fact I have pointed out several times over the years and no one seems to understand! only USAF aircraft we are likely to see in flying displays in UK are B-52′s and B-1Bs !

  20. Went to the airshow last year after years of wanting to go. The family thought it was a fantastic day out, both the flying and statics were superb. Keep up the hard work being undertaken for 2010 – it is appreciated! Hopefully the Vulcan will fly and would love to see Harriers

  23. Nice to see the Chinook displaying at Waddington again and now that the Vulcan is flying and hopefully displaying at the air show it would be nice if it could fly in formation with the Red Arrows as it is an iconic aircraft and would be a fitting tribute to the cold War bomber. Congratulations on getting the Turkish Stars in what looks like a good display and well done for the hard work you do. David

Posted by David Feek | March 2, 2010, 9:45 pm
  24. loving the 757… That should be an impressive display. This line up is nearly on par with the final product of last years, your have obviously taken note of our comments and suggestions and that is very much appreicated.

keep the good work up and anyone who found fault in last years line up will find it hard to remember after this years

    Posted by rich | March 2, 2010, 11:12 pm
  25. Yes shame about F-111 not attending but least the organisers tried their best. Just one thing regarding static display any chance we can get those horrible barriers sorted out please! they were placed far to close to aircraft last year as fellow photographers will know it just made decent pictures impossible in some cases the RAF Alpha Jet for example not very often you see them at airshows yet barrier was placed so close to aircraft you could touch it! please please keep the barriers back
On a positive note well done regards the laders placed near to the Austrian C-130 this was a great idea : )

    Posted by youth | March 4, 2010, 5:38 pm
  26. can you CONFIRM whether or not the Vulcan will turn up? since its flying for the 2010 season i expext it but you never know!

    Posted by Josh | March 5, 2010, 7:03 pm
    • The Vulcan to the Sky Trust have not yet contacted the Airshow with regard to the 2010 season. Until contact is made then I am afraid we cannot confirm anything.

  27. ok thanks for clearing that up

    Posted by Josh | March 8, 2010, 5:15 pm
  28. Great to see things are coming together but can we please have abit more of an effort from the RAF with its aircraft . I know money is tight & they are abit stretched but it’s the same for us the paying public & your event never gets any cheaper especialy when you have a family who is aircraft mad !!!

    Posted by stephen | March 11, 2010, 12:07 am
  29. i am fully aware that its still very early days, but im sure people have heard about the red arrows incident. I dont know the details 100%. But hopefully the organisers can inform us when they know about whether or not they will be attending?

    Posted by rich | March 23, 2010, 4:07 pm
    • the airshow office surly can’t answer that question, the Reds will have been grounded following full investigation into the accident, but they have spare aircraft back at Scampton and I’m sure the Red Arrows will be up and running ready for new airshow season (which is still some time away)

This year is going to be a stonking show. Well done you guys, and i’ve got a feeling it’s only going to get better!!!!

  33. Just wondering if you could tell me if you have approached the US to try and get the F-22 Raptor to display at all as it is a plane I have always wanted to see but can’t get to Fairford to watch.

    Posted by Colin | April 1, 2010, 7:06 am
    • We do approach the USAF for both flying and static aircraft for the show. As yet they have not fully confirmed their participation, however wehave been told we will not be getting an F-22.

      Posted by rafwaddingtonairshow | April 13, 2010, 7:44 am
      • That’s a shame but thanks for the info, seems a shame that the USAF don’t seem to come to airshows in the UK as much anymore. Hope they decide to send the F-22 over in the future as it will make an awesome airshow that bit better (If you can get better than this years is shaping up to be!!).

  34. I have just looked at the latest list and it really is looking really good. I have been looking at earlier posts and noticed the posts after mine in regards to the French Hercules. I only mentioned it would be good to see one at the airshow not that i had heard there was going to be one. Sorry for the confusion. The reason for my interest in seeing one is that i cant remember there ever being one at previous UK airshows, although i may be wrong? Certainly in all the ones i have attended there hasnt been one.

    Posted by Carl | April 1, 2010, 12:12 pm
  35. I can’t remember ever seeing a French Herc at UK airshow in fact I never recall them sending one over when French aircarft were on deployment at Waddo always sent C-160
You may have book cheap flight to airshow in France to see one mate : )

  38. 1 very important tip for you Waddington, When you organise the flying display slots, please make sure that the stars of the show (ie. Turkish Stars, JAS 39 Gripen, B757, L159 ALCA, VULCAN and the tornado/harrier role demo) fly in the afternoon, as last year many people were dissapointed that Team Orlik performed during the morning and many didn’t see them close up (me being included)

Thanks (and please, please keep this in mind!) :)

    Posted by Josh | April 12, 2010, 9:26 pm
  39. nice to see a Belgian F-16 on the static and also the French C-160, always nice to see lots of different types from our continental neighbours!

  40. I KNOW ITS ONLY APRIL, BUT IF THIS VOLCANO KEEPS ON PUMPING ASH INTO THE SKY IT COULD EFFECT THE AIRSHOWS THIS SUMMER. SOME NEWS CHANNELS ARE SAYING THAT IT COULD EFFECT THE SKIES AROUND US FOR MONTHS TO COME. EVERYONE PLEASE KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED.

I know its hard but please keep this in mind ; )

    • I’m sure last year some of the metal barriers were replaced with cones & rope which was much better.

      Posted by Rosie | April 27, 2010, 3:50 pm
      • Hi Rosie yes some were and the aircraft in large static park area were parked well its just the rest of static ha ha the Alpha Jet been a prime example of how not to place barriers!

  45. Can you please ensure that the tannoy speakers that are placed along the crowd line are placed the full length of the crowd line this year as a lot of spectators gather around the coach park area near the A15 as its not as crowded but are unable to hear the commentary as there are no speakers in that area

  46. Looking at the latest list i think they are doing a great job this year particularly in regards to the flying display and they static is looking better than recent years. I know there are a few months to go but whats the chance of maybe some Germans or American aircraft attending? Also it would be nice to see a RAF Tristar but i know they are very busy these days. Or how about an Algerian Lynx or Merlin considering they are being built over here at the moment?

  48. I have just looked at the latest updates too and it is so good to see an F16 back on the flying list, with the way it’s looking at the moment I have no idea how they are going to top this next year!!
Lets just hope the weather is as good as it was last year too!!

  49. A BIG welldone!! to all at the airshow office. So good to have the F16 back again, especially in the capable hands of the Belgians. The only thing that would top this display off is the German Phantom! (big ask i know) Once again welldone!!!!! And as Colin said lets all cross our fingers and anything else you have for weather like last year. Woohoo i’m so excited :)

  53. Yes it is great to see the F-16 included in the flying display and also a German Tornado now in the static. I can’t speak highly enough of the organisers this year as it is looking really really good.(unless they want to mention over the speaker system that even Carl says its a great show even without a French Herc!)I will keep trying ha :-)

  54. BN Defender & BN Islander added to static now there’s two aircraft you don’t see at airshows very often defiantly an interesting and welcome addition! Thumbs up : )

  55. I see yet more nice additions to the static list! I am really pleased to see a USAF E-3 returning. Whats the chance of a Saudi one? One can try ha!

    Posted by Carl | May 18, 2010, 2:53 pm
  56. I think we are getting too excited youth! The team at Waddington are doing a great job as it is and there cant be much room left this year to fit aircraft in!

    Posted by Carl | May 19, 2010, 9:33 pm
  57. Actually just looking at the list again, so far four out of the five operators of E-3′s will be having their aircraft displayed at the show! Now it would be one amazing feat to have all five of them! Has that ever happened at a show anywhere in the world before? Certainly n ot in the UK unless i happen to have missed that show!

    Posted by Carl | May 19, 2010, 9:42 pm
  58. No Carl I’ve never seen all 5 AWAC’s operators at a show prob never will ha ha I’ve never heard of it happening at a show, yes your right there doing a great job with this years show the E-2 Hawkeye comment was said jokingly but we can dream : )

  59. Shame about the RNZAF 757… was really looking forward to seeing that! so im disappointed there.

i hope you can replace it with something worth while

just one of those things i suppose

  60. Thanks for the up dates team…. shame about the NZ757 & fingers crossed for 558 :( but all out of your control

  61. well done to the airshow organisers. i guess all the flying display is full now and no space for anything else. well done on the f16 and the nimrod mra4. shame no usaf aircraft flying but i suppose we are getting to expect that of the US. shame about the 757 too but i know that is not your fault. i have a bad feeling about the vulcan too.

  62. I have to say that with the Romanians and the Sri Lankan i am looking forward to Waddo more than Fairford. The list is looking great. Lets just hope this current weather holds out for another week or so!

    Posted by Carl | June 23, 2010, 7:40 am
  63. Sorry that was meant to say with them pulling out of the RIAT show!

    Posted by Carl | June 23, 2010, 7:41 am
  64. I would love to see some nice weather never mind all the weird n wonderful exotics being requested by over excited plane boffs. This year is going to be my first ever waddo so any tips on the best day to go?

    Posted by Mescalitto | June 24, 2010, 11:38 pm
  65. Just noticed the Vulcan has been taken off the display list. That’s not going to be popular especially after last years fiasco. I for one have become bored of the whole thing. This years waddo isn’t about the Vulcan for me it’s all the other great displays you have lined up. Alot of people would have got tickets this year see 558 fly but alas another year to lose peoples donations.

Posted by Dave barrott | June 25, 2010, 7:22 am
    • I have to agree! I have lost total interest in the whole Vulcan to the sky thing myself and after last year its no surprise to find its not flying again( I know its a differant situation this year) its not the airshow organisers fault regarding Vulcan as we all know, I wouldn’t even bother booking them next year! you all have done an amazing job on this years show and If eveything else turns up its going to be the best Waddo airshow in years! A330 & F-16s from Belgian AF is a great last minute addition.

      Posted by youth | June 25, 2010, 4:00 pm
      • I have to agree David Barrott im with you on this the Vulcan has consumed more money than the Labour party. witch i felt could not be possable. I love the aircraft to bits but not seeing this time round will be the last straw for me, i will have to stop putting money in the pot.

People pay for things like this and posters show the monster Vulcan in flight (I Wish) and now I feel let down if it was not for the strong line up I would ask for a refund. What’s your feelings chat back

  66. I thought the pain of last years show would have gone by now but it has’nt, and the Vulcan not flying again means i’ll be saving my money and not wasting my time at waddington again this year.

Posted by PETER WRIGHT | June 25, 2010, 9:21 pm
    • Well Peter I wouldn’t let Vulcan not flying put you off, the Vulcan is my favourite plane has been since I was a kid but dispite it not flying I’ll still be at Waddo the airshow team have done a fantastic job this year so we should all show our support its a great line up of aircraft : )

      Posted by youth | June 26, 2010, 9:03 am
  67. I see two Transalls are due in this morning in support of the F5′s. Are either of them likely to still be here for the show or are they both leaving?

    Posted by Carl | June 29, 2010, 8:54 am
  68. Having been brought up in the RAF & then marrying into it I have been to plenty of airshows in my time, the days before they let civvies in, now they are spoilt by the people who erect windbreakers around 2 chairs taking up places for 8-10 people to stand, & then sun umbrella’s over the top as well I have given up taking my grandchildren now as they are getting to big to hold. These selfish people are spoiling it for the majority I shall be back at Waddington when they are banned.

  69. What is the latest news re vulcan ay 2010 display

Posted by Ron Evans | June 29, 2010, 8:38 pm
  70. I think it is getting absolutely pathetic the way the Vulcan to the sky trust is been run, I look forward to going to Waddo airshow every year with my family and it is always a highlight to see it thunder through the sky, maybe it’s time someone else took the responsability for running it so we can all enjoy it as we should. It still looks like an amazing show without it, you have all done a great job, this weekend can’t come quick enough!!!

    Posted by Colin | June 30, 2010, 1:09 pm
  71. Any idea of whats coming in when (e.g Thursday & Friday?) and what times approx? can we listen into wadd ATC if so whats the freq.

    cheers rich

hopefully the reds are back to their best after this years accident

  72. I see the Nimrod MRA4 has been removed from the flying display which is a real shame

    Posted by Carl | July 1, 2010, 8:12 am
  73. How come the Meteor NF11 has been replaced with the Venom??

Posted by David Barrott | July 1, 2010, 10:45 am
  74. Looks like the Hind has been deleted fom the static line up as well which is a shame. Many years since I saw one and then only at a distance.

    Posted by Tony | July 1, 2010, 12:15 pm
  75. Is someone taking the mickey with this incredably shrinking list of aircraft! I have just noticed now that the French E-3 has been removed! I am beginning to regret purchasing my ticket now with all these stealth withdrawal of aircraft!

    Posted by Carl | July 1, 2010, 2:22 pm
  76. Just chcked the line up as contemplating a last minute trip up, not really worth getting excited about is it?

Where’s the Sukhoi? B1b,s? Viggens that were there the last time i went?

All seems a bit same’y to me? Arnt air shows what they used to be anymore?

    Posted by Stag | July 2, 2010, 8:08 am
  77. An excellent show, well worth the time and money.

Posted by David Harding | July 4, 2010, 10:58 am
  78. Hi, I visited the airshow on the Saturday 3rd July (2010), and I noticed that 1 of the red arrows flew in early and did not take part in the performance when the rest showed up. Does anyone know why? Thanks

    Posted by Katie | July 4, 2010, 2:30 pm
  79. Did anyone else think the way the traffic and car parking arrangements to get into Waddington were awful this year? We set off early (as always) to avoid traffic and thanks to the gates not opening early this year, we sat in traffic on the main routes and were then hurded around a field outside the airfield and expected to park there allowing other cars behind us to drive straight in. Unfair on those who purchase advance tickets – to find they end up at the back of the queue! This also gave us less time to look at the displays and market stalls before the air displays started Whoever organised the change in this years wants sacking as it caused more congestion than other years.
Please put it back to what it was!!
Display wasn’t the best either a distinct lack of attendance on the static displays.

  80. just back from the 2010 show (saturday)and what a difference to last year. Getting in for a start was much better so all to be congratulated, flying was so much better too. I was amazed by the show put on by the spitfire and typhoon, absolutely brilliant…
many thanks waddington, see you next year.

  81. THANK YOU WADDINGTON!!!!

Great Show, best in year – loved the Turkish Stars, Gripen, F16.

Shame the strong winds curtailed some of the display participants on Sunday, but you did a great job rearranging the assets that could fly!!

    10/10

  82. Was really looking forward to this Airshow as didn’t make last year, but one thing that got to me was how disorganised the Airshow seemed to be on the airside of it why were there 10/15 min gaps between aircraft landing and then the nxt taking off? Gone are the days of first display in the landing patten and the nxt display thundering down the runway dingbat there was always something in the air, after all it is an Airshow, and secondly the exit after 3/4 carparks going out of one exit with marshals just waving in all directions plus it would be nice to have speakers all the way down the flightline so we could all hear what was happening. I hope this can be sorted before nxt year as I would like to come again and please please sort out the aircraft that you book after all it’s mention to be an international Airshow not a local flyin. I am sorry my feed back is negative but I’m just being honest about how I feel and after the price I paid for today I feel I have every right to voice my opinion to hopefully improve nxt years show. Good luck team

  83. Well done Waddington,
A great display, fantastic weather “saturday” getting in and out was a piece of cake, parked about 250 yards fron the seating arena.
Great to see the tornados and harrier back. nice to see the grippen, and especially nice to be deafened by the F16 take off. was good to see the royal navy out in force. Was a good lineup and well organised, looking forward to 2011.

  84. Well done on a fantastic air show, the Harrier GR9 and F16 display brought back brilliant memories or years past. The weather may not have been quite as good as last year but it was good enough and very pleased the Vulcan managed to make it this year!!

Here’s looking forward to next years show.

  85. Went on the Saturday. Excellent weather and the overall event was a great improvement on last years.

Of course there are some gripes. Came in via the A15 nothern end route and traffic management was poor. Kept waiting ages (this was around 8.00am) and when finally on the base it was obvious other routes had faired better as the place was heaving.

Next year can the speakers be put closer to the ground? I had a number of photo shots and video sequences ruined by the speakers getting in the way.

Static line up was confused. Couldn’t find half of what was supposed to be there. Never found the RAF Merlin or the F3 Tornado for example.

Food and drink prices were insane. Definitely a bring your own event.

Arrows did a good performance although shame that they were missing one member. Made the display look lopsided.

Turkish Stars were very good and an amusing commentary.

Team Viper were good but would have preferred an all Strikemaster display. And then a separate display by the hunters!

Big sigh of relief that the Vulcan flew. Not as spectacular performance as its debut a couple of years ago but I can understand why it was more understated.

Overall, a good job. Not Waddos best but was worth the money.

  86. A great day, no problems getting in at all from the lincoln side at 8am.
My only issue is with the parking alond the runway, why cant they leave some room for people to sit, there was a row of cars all alng and this left no room to sit.
    Overall a good day though.

    Posted by Brian | July 5, 2010, 11:37 am
  87. Just want to say well done with the show. Shame about the WW1 fighters and BOB memorial being dropped because of the wind, but theres nothing that could be done about that. Although an early rebooking for next year for them would be great. Loved the Gripen and harrieir GR9, and always a pleasure to see F16′s. As far as I’m concerned, the Turkish Stars are always welcome, easily one of the most entertaining displays.

    Posted by Darren | July 5, 2010, 12:10 pm
  88. Had a great time at the airshow this weekend thank you all for organising a fantastic event. A full report and pictures from the day will be available on our website (http://www.planestrainsautomobiles.co.uk) shortly.

    Thanks again

  89. Thank you very much to all of the people who worked hard behind the scenes to pull of such a great airshow. All of the dispolays were fantastic, an amusing commentary by the Turkish Stars commentator! And again, a shame that some aircraft could not fly because of the wind but well done on the re-arranging.

This was my first airshow at an RAF base as I am 15 years old and usually got to Southport airshow which is on a beach.

Just a quick question, does anyone know why there were only 8 reds on the saturday? Much appreciated.

Congratulations RAF Waddington on a very successful and enjoyable show!

  90. We went on the Saturday. No trouble getting there or parking. Flying displays were brilliant especially the Turkish Stars, Harrier, Typhoon/Spitfire and of course the Red Arrows. Enjoyed the static displays – aircraft and the WW2 scenario. Really enjoyed getting ‘up close’ and personal with the AH64! As a family we found all those working on the displays approachable and friendly. An excellent day and already looking forward to next year
